Move and Be Moved

Saturday 14 January 2006 at 5:34 pm Union member Linda Chase Broda let us know of an interesting workshop she is running:

What attributes do tai chi and poetry have in common? To name a few--- form, structure, sensitivity, and a striving toward essence. The workshop will include movement sessions based on Tai Chi and Chi Kung that will allow participants to focus on their own physical process. Also, there will be some set writing exercises based on the movement sessions, some of which will be developed in pairs.

This workshop invites you to move and be moved. The aim is to explore writing potential in ways which concentrate the mind and body and deepen awareness of images, thoughts and feelings. Movement and life are inseparable. Conscious movement can fuel expression in surprising ways.

You may be a poet, an experienced tai chi player, or indeed a novice in both these arts- whichever, you are welcome. Please wear loose comfortable clothes and bring soft slippers if you prefer not to work in bare feet.

venue: Village Hall, behind the house at 163 Palatine Road, Didsbury, Manchester

day and time: Saturday 11.30 to 5.30

dates: 18 March

fee: £56 (£37 concession) (fee includes lunch)

For booking information, phone Linda Chase Broda: 0161 445 1568
