Qigong Training Seminar Take A Seat Foundation Course – LEVEL TWO
Banchory, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Take A Seat is a varied programme of carefully chosen Qigong and T’ai Chi movements which can be practised either seated or standing.

Carole Milligan is a full time, registered instructor of T’ai Chi Ch’uan and Qigong. Since 2004 she has provided regular classes for people with dementia or movement impairment. Carole is co-author of "The Effects of Qigong Exercise Classes on People with Dementia" published in the Journal of Dementia Care - Vol 19 No 1 (2011). A joint study conducted with the NHS Occupational Therapy Department of the Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen and supported by Alzheimer Scotland.

An extract from the conclusion reads: "The findings of the study indicate that the programme can help to maintain and retrain bi-lateral co-ordination, proprioception, concentration, spatial awareness and skilled movement. It was also noted that a sense of self awareness, confidence, relaxation and social skills were enhanced."

This seminar complements the Take A Seat Level One course. It is intended for those who have already attended a Level One seminar. The weekend offers a further set of more complex movements to provide more choice in your programme.

Feedback: "The staff are very pleased with the reaction and said that the routines are excellent and they’ve never seen such a good reaction." BM – Kent/Sussex

Tai Chi Weapons Forms Saturday Seminar Saturday 17 March 2012

Bromley Sifu Hine
We teach  Sword (Chien), Broadsword (Dao), Solo and Double Fan Forms and Long Fan Form
The Tai Chi sword solo form develops; agility, boosts energy (Qi) builds robust good health. The weapon forms extend the skills learned in the empty hand solo forms.

In our school the Broadsword is always learned after the sword as it is heavier and harder to wield elegantly. The extra effort is well rewarded as you develop greater focus, internal strength and excellent timing.
The fan is the first "weapon" that most people learn in our school. Placing a fan into your hand and harmonizing it with the graceful movements of Tai Chi develops not only your Qi, but strengthens your health and calms your mind.

The Double Fan form will really sharpen your mind, controlling two fans at the same time extends your skills to a new level. All of the benefits from your Solo Fan Form are advanced to an even greater degree. This form is amazing to watch as the movements of the fan are harmonized with the Tai Chi footwork.
The Solo Fan Long Form  considerably longer and even more elegant than the first solo form. The movements are more sophisticated and intricate developing great poise, control and energy. http://www.taichi-europe.com

Relax, Sink, Empty Friday 30 March - Sunday 1 April 2012

Dartington Luke Shepherd
Being stable and relaxed are prerequisites for Tai Chi and give far reaching benefits for our daily life. The training methods to refine stability demand a lucid understanding of subtle changes inside the body and mind, not simply movements or postures.

The prime focus of the training over the weekend will be be on understanding subtle muscle changes instigated by "yi" or deep mind intention. As these are inner aspects given by the Tai Chi Classics, rather than outer forms, the workshop is open to all styles. Luke has been training Taiji for nearly 30 years and is a student of Patrick Kelly. He offers a far reaching insight into the inner workings, creating an inspiring yet challenging opportunity to refine your training.

Shaolin Gung Fu Seminar Sunday 16 September 2012

See Jay Sarah Hitchcock And Sifu Hine
The emphasis of these seminars is on gaining fitness, having fun and learning a lot of practical self defence. This is not a seminar where super fit people fight for two hours. The training is progressive so as long as you are healthy you can gradually build up fitness as you go along. Northern Kung Fu places emphasis on using kicks and long range strikes with the hands. Southern Kung Fu tends to use the hands, elbows and low kicks. http://www.taichi-europe.com

Relax, Sink, Empty Friday 26 - Sunday 28 October 2012

Tai Chi Weapons Forms Saturday Seminar Saturday 17 November 2012
